The Private Industry Council of Butte
County, Inc (PIC) is a private-non-profit corporation. It is governed by a
19 member PIC Board comprised of private and public sector representatives
appointed by the Butte County Board of Supervisors. The Private Industry Council
administers Federal and State Work Force Investment Act (WIA) funds for
employment and job training and related programs and services. PIC is Butte County’s service provider for the Federal Workforce Investment Act created in the year 2000. PIC, in conjunction with ONE-STOP partners, Department of Employment and Social Services, Butte College, ROP, Butte County Public Health, Butte County Behavioral Health and the Butte County District Attorney, provides job training and employment opportunities for the unemployed while providing a full array of business services to provide local business with top referrals for their employment needs.
These ONE-STOP partners provide both adult and youth services for those who are unsure of their employment goals, those looking to upgrade their job skills, find a first job or seek retraining after a business closure. Services include direct job referral, full gamut assessment, access to job seeking skills workshops, classroom and customized training and on the job training.
The ONE-STOP meets the needs of area and new employers as well. We provide assistance with large and small recruitments, access to a fully equipped business services area in which to stage your recruitments, timely seminars on the current legal issues of concern to employers, on the job training funds and tax credit information.
Additionally, we provide our innovative customer service training for new and existing employees. We have found this training to be successful in creating happier, more professional employees resulting in a better return for business in terms of repeat customers. We can also customize a training to meet the needs of a specific business, saving area employers both time and money.
All partners in the ONE-STOP work to integrate services to better serve business and jobseeker alike. It is our goal to make education, job training services and employment services universally available to the community. We continue to strive to increase regional access to information and enhance our ability to communicate through increased automation capacity and internet connectivity in our County.
